60 Years of The Shed

On 7th September 1966 in the Chelsea program for our home game v Leicester, a supporter had his idea printed on the letters page. That supporter was Clifford Webb and his idea was for the Fulham Road end of Stamford Bridge to be renamed The Shed. From that day the name was adopted and remains today, as we approach the 60th anniversary of that famous Christening.

To celebrate the occasion, and to reminisce about 60 years of a famous (and sometimes infamous) supporter movement as well as all the joy from players who performed in front of the crowd and were lifted by the noise, the Chelsea Heritage Partnership are collecting short memories from supporters and players, both current residents of the Shed as well as old residents and originals.

We are looking for short in person clips recorded on a camera/phone. No more than 2 minutes long and, please, no fighting talk! We all know the Shed's reputation but for this special occasion we are celebrating everything positive about the people and the players who saw The Shed as their second home. Please introduce yourself in your clip, your name and when your memories originate from, eg 1970s. All clips can be emailed to heritage@chelseasupporterstrust.com by 31st August 2026.

We will select some of our favourites which will be screened at our special pre match heritage event in the Stamford Bridge Tea Bar on Saturday 12th September, prior to our PL fixture against newly promoted Hull, from 1pm. You are also welcome to join us in person, the event is free to any home match ticket holders - it will make for a fantastic reunion. We will also screen the story of The Shed from official club historian Rick Glanvill as well as match footage and memorabilia on display.
