The Chelsea Heritage Partnership were delighted to present the latest in our series of Those Were the Days events, bringing our cherished history to life on a match day, the supporters’ Tea Bar at Stamford Bridge once again playing the perfect host.

With the doors flung open at 2pm, ahead of our victorious encounter with the Premier League champions, visitors were greeted by the sight of a colourful array of classic shirts worn over the years, evoking fond memories for many. As well as our loyal supporters, we were joined by a number of our former players, many of who graced those shirts back in the day. We also provided some useful history notes to add further context to the shirts on display, research helpfully provided by Chelsea Museum manager Adam Burrage and Chelsea Heritage Partner Chelsea Chadder.

As well as the vibrant colour of the iconic shirts, the room was filled with the sights and sounds of match footage and some superb goals, highlighting the style of those kits and the skill of the players of the time. All kindly compiled and provided by Partners James Abba and Chelsea Chadder. We’re sure our esteemed guests were delighted to see themselves on the screens around the room, reminiscing with the gathered supporters.

As is customary, we also screened an informative showcase presentation by official Chelsea FC historian and Partner Rick Glanvill, looking at the interesting history of our club badge.

With grateful thanks to everyone involved in bringing this event together – all of our Chelsea Heritage Partners who contributed, our fantastic former players who came along in numbers, the Chelsea Museum who are always willing to resource our events, club staff who manage the Tea Bar, the SLO team and Chelsea FC executives who continue to support fan led initiatives such as ours. Also thanks to the editor of the Chelsea match day program, Dominic Bliss, for putting together a lovely piece about the Partnership (reproduced below).

Last, but by no means least, a huge thanks to our amazing fans for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you again next time.

Thank you to everyone who provided the photos included in this piece
