On Saturday 8th November 2025, prior to our Premier League game against Wolves, the Chelsea Heritage Partnership hosted another successful event at the Stamford Bridge Tea Bar - our themes focusing on our Remembrance commemorations and the 80th anniversary of our game against a touring Dynamo Moscow side.

A most poignant fixture of the season, we invited our on pitch duty service personnel to join us pre match, informally chatting with our supporters and former players who also dropped by.

Taking pride of place at the the event was a unique wooden plaque recently rediscovered in the ground, that commemorates Chelsea players and staff who saw service during the First World War. The full story of that find of the special item can be read here.

On 13th November 1945, a touring Moscow Dynamo side came to Stamford Bridge for a momentous game, the story of which is told in CHP member and official Chelsea historian Rick Glanvill's presentation, shown below and screened for the first time at this event.

To complement the screening, an exhibition of some of the stand out images of that event were on display, generously provided by Chelsea Museum archives and CHP member Robert Stein. Alongside was a replica Moscow Dynamo shirt provided by the Chelsea Museum.

As is also customary at our Those Were the Days heritage events, we took a nostalgic look at our history against the day's opponents, this time Wolves. Chelsea Heritage Partner Tim Rolls provided informative visual summaries of three crucial games from our past, each linking to in depth stories he has written for the web site. They can be found here:

To add to the all round atmosphere of the event, screens were filled with clips kindly provided by CH Partner James Abba from his Chelsea Lookback YouTube channel.

As well as our service personnel taking centre stage on the pitch later in the evening, we were also honoured to be joined by former Chelsea players, good friends to our supporters, John Bumstead, Paul Canoville and Colin Pates. Chelsea FC club executives also dropped by to take in the great atmosphere.

We would like to thank everyone who contributed to making this such a fantastic event, from all the members of the Chelsea Heritage Partnership and the Chelsea Supporters' Trust to the SLO team at Chelsea FC, including Sam and Ethan, generous staff at the Chelsea Museum, Eklim and Matt, and especially Billy whose enthusiasm and knowledge was very much appreciated. Plus all the Tea Bar staff, including the guys on the door, who always look after us.
